Amanda Gitau, Principal Consultant

For years, I worked within investment banking where I saw how rigorous compliance unlocked capital funding for multiple clients. I realised this imbalance divides social initiatives from accessing grants, not because their impact isn’t real or their work isn’t good but because their compliance framework and internal structure isn’t investor ready.I founded Kilele Agency as a bridge to the summit - I use the same institutional methodologies and standards as top tier financial firms and put them to work for charities, and CICs. Whether it's translating complex corporate requirements and jargon into practical strategies or creating best practice documentation, Kilele Agency removes the overwhelm to become audit-proof, and ready to unlock funding.

The Kilele approach in action

Resolving complex legacy data risk:

The brief: A complex multi-jurisdiction entity discovered that historical personal data of former employees that had been mistakenly retained in legacy systems. The challenge: Over the years of operating, outdated systems had retained personal data longer than GDPR regulation allowed. As a large firm handling different types of assets, this posed a sizeable vulnerability to data breaches. No current team members understood how the old systems had been set up.The solution: We evaluated deep discovery to map the size of legacy data and complexity of historical setup, liaising with the third-party system vendor to safely deploy current system upgrades. We created a bespoke Data Retention and Disposal framework that aligned with strict regulatory bodies and internal IT policies. A custom operations manual was also created for future configuration. The impact: The new feature passed compliance testing and soon integrated into company software. Legacy data was securely disposed of and clear documentation established to limit future risk.

Repairing financial integrity and audit readiness:

The brief: A large funding entity identified a critical system monitoring oversight that allowed capital to be allocated without mandatory managerial approval. Internal governance mandates strict thresholds for financial sign-offs while external regulation mandates all disproportionate business spending to be additionally challenged by independent compliance function. This oversight created high-risk vulnerability for conflicts of interest or financial abuse to go undetected. The challenge: Discovery phase included multiple sensitive records: client entertainment receipts, client details, invoicing details and contract information. The solution:We identified the exact points of system failure and conducted a backdated review of spending that should have been directed to second line. We established risk tolerance with client and delivered initial review of instances of suspicious spending. The impact:The organisation successfully fulfilled statutory disclosure obligations with zero pushback. Updated internal controls to ensure financial verification was automatically routed before spending.

Policy sprints:

The brief: A newly acquired firm needed to document and harmonise its’ internal compliance systems that had been a disjointed collage of multiple manual configurations, messy work-arounds, outdated policy definitions and many duplicative efforts. The challenge: To secure transition approval and ensure continuity under new governance, the entity needed to streamline its’ existing compliance environment. Undocumented, outdated practice threatened to derail the secure handover of compliance oblgiations. The solution: After a comprehensive feature-by-feature discovery phase to identify system weaknesses, a gap analysis highlighted areas that needed updating, which were dormant and which required new documentation. This ensured we could overhaul and rewrite the organisation’s entire core compliance playbook on an accelerated transfer timeline. The impact:The firm achieved a seamless transfer with zero regulatory friction. Its’ system could handle the transfer while the compliance team could focus on core acquisition tasks.
